Have you ever caught yourself overthinking things you can’t change? Trying to predict the future, understand people’s behaviour, or solve everything at once? Well… that has a name: overthinking, or simply, thinking too much.
The truth is, not everything is within our control, and realising that is freeing. There’s a simple yet powerful tool that can help you see this more clearly: the Circle of Control, Influence, and Concern.
🌿 The Circle of Control
Here lie the only things that truly depend on you:your thoughts, your actions, your focus, and your reactions.
Everything you feel and choose to do belongs to this space. When you focus your energy here, you begin to feel more balance, confidence, and lightness.
Instead of trying to change the world, you change the way you respond to it.And that changes everything.
☀️ The Circle of Influence
This circle includes things you can’t fully control, but can influence, your work environment, how people treat you, the quality of your relationships.
You can’t dictate other people’s behaviour, but you can inspire change through your attitude, your listening, and your example.
Often, it’s here that small actions lead to great transformations.
🌪️ The Circle of Concern
This is where most of us get lost. War, the climate, the economy, the past, other people’s opinions…
All of these things affect us, of course, but they are not under our control.
And the more time we spend trapped in these worries, the more anxiety and frustration we feel. It’s like trying to hold on to the wind.
✨ Reallocate Your Energy
Whenever you notice yourself overthinking, pause and ask:“Is this under my control or not?”
If the answer is “no”, take a deep breath and bring your attention back to what’s in your hands. That’s where your strength lives.
Focusing on what you can control doesn’t mean ignoring everything else —it means choosing where to place your energy and your peace of mind.
🌸 Conclusion
In the end, life becomes much lighter when we learn to put everything in its rightful place, what we can control, what we can influence, and what we simply need to accept.
Recognising these limits is not an act of giving up, but rather a gesture of liberation from the illusion of total control.
When we direct our energy towards what truly depends on us, we create space for calm, self-care, and a genuine inner strength to flourish.
Remember: what is under your control is already enough to transform your life, one step at a time.
